HELP CHILDREN RECLAIM THEIR RIGHT TO EDUCATION
We create the conditions for learning during wartime. Although education is a preventive action weapon, the education sector currently does not receive the necessary support.
Before Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine, our community of 50 teacher-leaders were teaching more than 10 000 children in rural areas of Ukraine. Most of them had to relocate to safer places to escape daily shelling and continue teaching.
War in Ukraine has prompted TFU to prioritise providing psycho-emotional support and safe learning to our students and other kids who have suffered because of the Russian invasion.
Ukrainian children should and want to keep learning despite the invasion. Your donation enables us to provide live online classes for displaced Ukrainian students who lost access to education and whose learning has not been resumed. Together we can help children reclaim their right to learn.
Psychological support and a trauma-sensitive approach to teaching is the most urgent need for Ukrainian educators. To address this, Teach For Ukraine is launching an initiative to:
- train 1,000+ teachers through a series of open webinars;
- provide ~100 teachers with a more complex training program (including group and individual sessions);
and thus, minimize adverse effects of trauma on over 20,000 children.
Teach For Ukraine has launched an Online Educational Support Project for Ukrainian children in 5th-11th grade. It is a 2-months initiative of live tutoring and academic classes for children who do not have access to regular learning.
What do children get?
- Three academic lessons per day;
- Social-emotional support sessions;
- Group-based tutoring;
We plan to impact over 1000 students.
“The educational process has been suspended. You can take away everything from me but not teaching, it is forever in my heart. It’s been a week since I became not only a biology, but a 10th and 11th grade multi-subject teacher.”
-Viktoriia Tymoshenko, 2021 TFU Fellow, Biology teacher
